Stay in the town of Carnarvon overnight and experience several dark places where you’re welcome to set up for a night of stargazing.
About a 20 minute drive north Carnarvon along Bibbawarra Road, is the interesting site of Bibbawarra Bore. From over 900m below, hot artesian water gushes to the surface. It was once funnelled into the Southern Hemisphere’s longest cattle trough! The area around the bore is flat and protected. It’s a great area for setting up telescopes for the evening.

Carnarvon Heritage Precinct
Only minutes from town at Carnarvon’s Heritage Precinct there’s the poignant “Don’t Look at the Islands” statue. Just below the statue is a hollow that is a little protected from the wind and hidden from the direct lights of Carnarvon town. You can still see the glow from the town’s lights, but it’s far enough away to give a good view of the Milky Way above.
