Cervantes became an Astrotourism Town in August 2018. The first visit on 21 August 2018, included meeting staff at the Shire of Dandaragan. Cervantes is a coastal town and it’s great to be able to add a couple of great locations for you to visit for observing and astrophotography.

Traditionally, Cervantes is a fishing town and has low levels of artificial light. It’s a great coastal destination for stargazing and astrophotography. There are two useful places for tourism information: The Pinnacles Visitor Centre in Cervantes and the Turquoise Coast Visitor Centre which is located in the town of Jurien Bay 28kms north of Cervantes.

Night Sky Stargazing Experiences

If you’d like a stargazing experience at The Pinnacles, there are a number of options:

1. Jurien Bay Adventure Tours is working with a local Astronomy Guide and can provide a personal tour.

2. Lumineer Adventure Tours provide country stargazing experiences with telescope viewing. Tours depart from Perth.

3. Australian Pinnacle Tours also visit The Pinnacles at night. At this stage tours don’t include an Astronomy Guide or telescope viewing. Tours depart from Perth.
