What happens during solstice?
The summer solstice traditionally marks the middle of summer, but in some calendars it is seen as the beginning of summer.
The summer solstice marks several astronomical phenomena too! During the summer solstice, the Sun will rise and set further south than any other day in the year. The Sun also reaches its southern most point in the sky. The exact time of the summer solstice occurs when the sun reaches its highest point in the southern sky. In 2023, the summer solstice will occur on the 22nd of December at 5.47am
