For the adventurous, take a trip out to Koolanooka Springs. This spot is about 28kms from Morawa. On a moonless night, the starry sky is spectacular. The rock formations and bush landscape provide a wonderful backdrop where you can soak up the stars and get in touch with the outback Universe.

In season, there carpets of wildflowers in bloom. Your soul will feel refreshed and rejuvenated. Make sure you camp out with friends and family and make the most of the dark night skies. Choose a new Moon weekend for optimal stargazing, pack your red light torch, warm clothes and a thermos of hot chocolate. What a campout it will be.

Morawa Caravan Park

If you have a young family or need a location within town to get a bit of stargazing in, the Morawa Caravan Park is perfect. You will find darker nooks for casual observing with telescopes and not be too far from your accommodation.

Adjoining the caravan park to the north is a large area of Shire-owned land. The Shire welcomes visitors to use this area as a casual observing place. There are several tracks that cross through this land, so it’s a good idea to explore the area during the day to choose your site before your night of observing.

Facilities: None, however it’s conveniently close to overnight accommodation in town.
