Aboriginal Astronomy

In Western Australia, Astrotourism Towns have worked together with Elders, artists, school students and story tellers to create Aboriginal Astronomy Planispheres that tell stories of indigenous constellations. Each planisphere is specific to different Aboriginal Countries. The planispheres are available for sale at the following retail outlets and online:

Noongar Aboriginal Seasons

Although mainstream education teaches the four seasons of Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, Western Australia’s Noongar Aboriginal people lived by six seasons. Life was lived according to the six seasons, moving according to the availability of various food sources, weather patterns and cultural habits.
