The City of Armadale is where city lights meet country stars! You’ll find great locations for stargazing and surprising astrophotography destinations.
Armadale offers more than first meets the eye. By day, the area is home to a wealth of outdoor walks, scenic trails, stunning local dams and nature reserves to explore. Visitors can explore Araluen Botanic Park or enjoy Churchman Brook Dam and Bungendore Park. Meet a friendly lizard at the Armadale Reptile Centre too!
After the sun goes down, there are the stars to explore. Even though Armadale is only 30 minutes from central Perth, the night sky offers the perfect reason to slow down and stay overnight for some after dark experiences.
From a dark sky perspective, the City of Armadale is favourably placed. Naturally, being on the outskirts of metropolitan Perth means there is more artificial light at night. However, the region offers opportunities to explore what locations are still suitable for dark sky experiences and how we can work together to use light at night more responsibly, protecting the view of the stars for the future, and helping preserve darker skies where possible.
The partnership between the City of Armadale and Astrotourism WA is a unique opportunity in metropolitan Perth that responds to growing interest in night-time and experience based tourism.
Get ready to book your overnight stay and discover night sky experiences in one of Perth’s most surprising destinations. Call into the Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre and the friendly team will welcome you.
